The International Association of Air Cleaner Manufacturers (IAACM) is a not-for-profit trade association representing manufacturers of air purifiers and air cleaners, suppliers to the industry, retailers, distributors and wholesalers. It is organized as a non-profit, 501(c)(6) trade association in California.
The functions of the Association are established by its members, working through an elected Board of Directors and a system of Boards, Councils and Task Forces established by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors hires a staff executive, the President, and a General Counsel to, respectively, administer the business of the Association and assure compliance with applicable laws.
IAACM is intended to function in those areas that:
- Provide economies through joint action (special research, public information);
- Its members are unable to operate individually (industry statistics or product certification); or
- Collective action is more likely to be effective (government relations).
IAACM's basic function is to provide a legally supervised framework in which the industry can act on matters of mutual interest.
IAACM's programs and services fall primarily into five areas:
- Public Information
- Technical Standards Development and Product Certification
- Self-Regulation
- Research
- Business Data Compilation
- Government Representation
